Here are a set of poems – my loveliest labour of love – written for my lovely daughter. Yes, she’s the apple of my eye, the heroine of my dreams, the princess of my heart and the fire in my soul J
I write for her a poem at least once a year on her birthday and also ever so often when I am moved . . . And, in the most delightful moments she writes too and sometimes writes in reply J

My daughter you were born today,
Lying next to me but so far away,
Disparate in age, similar in spirit
Talented to succeed beyond all limit,
Success will be easy for you to find,
Just temper your passion, focus your mind,
A father speaks bloody with war,
I will bring peace but whatever for,
If not to let you live in peace,
Of mind and heart, grace and finesse,
Oh you must find your own wars to win,
And win you shall for you’re passion’s kin,
But if you are to rise above my peak,
You must learn the art of gentle speak!
You must live your life and find your own sun,
Just learn this new art from whatever I’ve done …

Guide me God so I may do what is right,
Guide me whether I should walk into a sun,
Guide me if I should bless their future bright,
Guide me how not to seem like a jealous one.
Guide me because I’ve loved her true,
Guide me for she’s been a lonely soul,
Guide me so I may guide her what to do,
Guide me so I can make her future whole!

My daughter when I look at you,
I see a heart as pure as gold,
But do remember that whatever you do,
You must grow wiser as you grow old,
You’ve an open heart and a trusting nature,
And a lovely face and a more beautiful mind,
You’re not only God’s most beautiful creature,
You’re also good and loving and kind,
But while you’re all of the above and more,
You must learn to choose your friends with care,
And you must learn to hold your haste in store,
And don’t blow it all, hold some passion in spare,
Dearest daughter you’re a warrior’s child,
So know that your heart is as stout and brave,
For as fearless as he you have been styled,
So always let courage, not fear your actions pave!
So come my dear come hold my hand,
And then leave it as you go conquer the Earth,
For you’re destined to be the best in this land,
And to make us so proud that we gave you birth!

Love on – innocent eyes! 2004
Innocent eyes stare with so much of trust,
Urging the world to always be just,
But my innocent dear know that this world,
Has always on the tips of greed been twirled,
So use your trust with a modicum of caution,
With your blind trust do, some wisdom apportion,
So that never will your love face the shock of a cheat,
So that never will suspicion your innocence defeat …
And yet your trust dear is a powerful sword,
For virtue shall always more than villainy be adored,
And your greatest virtue is your positive soul,
That will always fuel you to just about any goal,
So be a little careful but never cast trust aside,
For when truth is in danger even your fate shall abide,
So with trust as your sword and truth as your shield,
You can face any adversity or challenge that’s dealed!
Yes once in a while you will surely stumble and fall,
For every mountain must crumble no matter how tall,
But your God’s own child and you have the guts of steel,
Born of a warrior who’s learnt to win every losing deal,
Never let your smile shadowed by fear or doubt,
Just let love and trust any fear or demon rout,
Innocent eyes continue as our fountain of true love,
Love that is blessed even by the Lord God above!

But if you can’t wait it’s certainly no crime,
I have shown you a path and it’s your choice to follow,
For there’s never just one path to happiness or sorrow!

But the impossible came alive by your belief and toil,
It’s up to you, your destiny to create or spoil,
If the paths now too tough you can easily choose another,
But the potential to smile reflects the willingness to bother…

All solutions and paths are already loaded in your head,
All risks and potentials with each emotional quotient,
Oh it’s so easy to choose but so tough to be patient,
Make the choice pay the price simply play the game,
Press stop if you must but life’ll never be the same!

Pray not for answers but the questions instead,
Then you’ll know every hidden secret in your mind,
Then you’ll face the future without wishing a rewind,

My fairy princess!! 2005
Years and years ago, oh so many years,
God sent me a fairy so charmingly sweet,
Touching moments so full of smiles and tears,
Everyday has been a new and wondrous treat!
Yes it’s been my endeavour to eradicate her fears,
Yes I must so teach how her destiny she’ll beat,
Yes her future as always ever bright appears,
For as the princess of smiles she’ll any fate defeat!
My sweetest child,
If I only could,
Make your life so mild,
I surely would,
But I’ll be unfair,
If I do deprive,
You from a dare,
The chance to strive,
So run you must,
With a wish on your lips,
Churn challenges to dust,
Take all of life’s blips,
And one day you’ll win,
When you endure and more,
As you take it on your chin,
And yet not ever be sore …
And so here on it’s life’s challenges and us,
And so we’re now locked in our irrevocable bind,
We’ll live life fullest and yet learn never to fuss,
Then we’ll be destined our pots of gold to find!
And even one day when you leave my hand thus,
And when you race on leaving a slower me behind,
The memories of these times shall always be your plus,
The memories so ingrained on our souls and our mind!

My daughter is she who will always learn to smile
Even if it hurts so much once in every while
Even if the world cheats and tends to use guile
My daughter will never lose her grace and her style!
My daughter is she who’s charming and yet shall win
For her voice of truth will ever rise above every din
Whatever the challenge she’ll take it on the chin
My daughter will prevail by the magic she shall spin …
My daughter is she whose religion is to strive
This belief is the energy that’ll fill her with drive
So higher the mountain the more she comes alive
My daughter just work and see the good times’ll arrive!
My daughter is she who has only love in her heart
So even among angels her love’s a class apart
So never will she fall however painful life’s dart
My daughter’s just true and that’s more than just smart!
My daughter is she who’s born from my prayer
For every warrior needs progeny his glory to share
So if she’s ever lost she must know that I’m there
My daughter forever is in my soul’s loving care!
My daughter is she who’s truly a gift from God
So she can never doubt that her destiny’s flawed
She must merely try and surely fate shall nod
My daughter in your glory this world shall stand awed!!

A moment so rare! 2007
And so we present her to the world,
And see, she floats on a grown up air,
And slowly her independent flag’s unfurled,
And soon her womanly flame shall flare,
And yet she remains in our hearts so curled,
And yet she’s ensconced fore’er in our care!
Our hearts are bursting with such loving pride,
Our head’s high yet bowed in humble prayer,
Our daughter we gift thee thy destiny to abide,
Our joy thou shall a responsible mantle so wear,
Our hands yet stretched always to guide,
Our eyes so hopeful as thy first steps we share!
For now, shall thee, soon blossom my flower,
For now, shall life, challenge thee and scare,
For e’en then, shat thee, ne’er stoop to cower,
For thou art born at every fate to steady stare,
For always shall life curses and blessings shower,
For so shall thou face ‘em on the wings of a dare!
So step forth child the world’s thine to take,
So be brave and honest with lots of toil to spare,
So shall thee win, so shall thy destiny make,
So full of friends and oh, many a pair,
So smiles God and through thy father so spake,

When I look into your eyes
I see my life again
Passion without disguise
Willingness to take pain …
When I so see, I see potential e’en higher
Believe in yourself and don’t forget to yet aspire!
When I look into your face
Like mine so very warm
Taking life in an embrace
Never caring for a norm!
When I so see, I see such universal love
Oh you’ll hurt yet be both eagle and a dove !
When I look at you stand
I see my courage and my fear
Courage to just withstand
Fear of losing our cheer …
When I so see, I pray for balance and control
Just do your awesome best, you’ll get to your goal!
When I look into your heart
With my heart it resonates
More sincere than just smart
And the fire to challenge fates!

Learn to build a shield or you might hurt very much!

You’ll rise whatever the toll

There were days when the sun seemed ever so hot
Yet effort and courage somehow thinned the crowd
Somehow did life deliver the future I’d sought!

It’s that time of life when everything’s new
When everything’s alive often without a clue
When something’s say hi and others bid adieu
Yes, it’s that time when life chooses chosen few!
Facing up to life is usually all that it takes
It’s that time of life when destinies one makes!
It’s that time of life when all’s a confuse
Problems are sharp and solutions obtuse
Oh, so many options, oh so difficult to choose
Yet, it’s that time to so jump a few queues!
There is a tendency to so diffuse and scatter
It’s courage and patience that’ll eventually matter!
It’s that time of life when everything’s sweet
With friends for life and lovers to meet
With new hope and opportunity everyday to greet
Yes, it’s that time to not really mind some heat!
Every new experience and some beyond a norm
It’s truly that time when inceptions so form!
It’s that time of life full of such love and fear
When destiny seems far and disaster so near
When every morning smiles and every night’s a tear
Yet, in some time the final truth will appear!
It’s so important to know that every bird can fly
It’s truly that time to have the courage to try!
It’s that time of life when a mentor stands aside
To let you so stumble your destiny to abide
To let you so resolve every little tear you cried

From a sapling to a tree
Her childhood now past
Her true self now so free

So potentially the loveliest in all God’s bower!

Calling right from wrong

So will she blossom astute and aware
So may she care to continue to care!

So innocent and pretty
She must be humble in her duty
Even intelligent and witty

Born in my image styled by my love
Three parts eagle and one part dove
I look at her and I see only myself
So full of passion so devoid of pelf …
She’s the dream I dreamt when I was born
She is the promise and I’m ever forsworn
The day she smiled our souls did merge
She becomes me as our lives converge!
Yet I’m just a milestone she will cross
Full of gumption and glory and gloss
And so shall she sing my very reprise
And so shall she even herself surprise …
And so redefine the very meaning of glory
For one day shall she write her very own story
So onward the journey from reflect to shine
With humility and passion every star to align …
What more can I say ‘cept I’m ever beside
A mentor and master every value applied
So whenever she tries I’m wont to applaud
Whenever she cries I’m her lightening rod!
Soon one day some man shall speak
Smart and suave, successful and sleek
And surely shall I step aside and beam
As she creates her own family and team!
Progeny and birth and life at full busy
As I so dream I must say that I’m dizzy
And love and career so onward the flow
Successfully challenging each other to grow!
Then one day when I can stand no more
I hope she is there with strength in store
For then will she lead and so shall I follow
For I may be today but she is the morrow!
And finally the day when all seems to end
I shall carry her smile beyond life’s bend
And somehow shall remain the special connect
For who but she will lead my very sect …
And then God smiled and shone his light
For the many realities beyond ordinary sight
Such is the saga of my daughter and I
Forever to love and for never goodbye!

And the latest one J a few months ago! She is now 19 and every day more and more like me and yet with a unique sensibility that’s quite delightful!!

She’s now a friend now that she’s grown
So embellishing all I’ve taught her

I stand here today, with my father beside me
To celebrate his glory for the whole world to see
I stand here today with my very dear friend
With whom I have seen many a movie’s end
I stand here today with my mentor and guide
A person who has and will always be by my side
I stand here today with my inspiration, my idol
His hard work and vision make him the perfect role model
I stand here today with my non textbook dad
Who helps me trouble Ma by acting crazy and mad
I stand here today with a fellow movie lover and poet
I love watching movies with him, even though I fall asleep through it
I stand here today with a dazzling dancer and a rockstar
He is dangerous on the dance floor, he constantly raises the bar
I stand here today with a passionate worker, leader and visionary
His talent of turning crazy ideas to actions is extraordinary
