Lochinvar today !!

26 Aug

This is a strange poem . . . . written after reading Lochinvar by Sir Walter Scott. What a magical poem that is JJ I thought what would happen if Lochinvar visited his sweetheart’s wedding today and thought that the meeting of minds and souls is perhaps greater than mere meeting of bodies . . . . Hence . . . .

Lochinvar today!

He saw her as a bride tonight,

Her eyes they shone with glorious light,

Shimmering in white with a dash of pink,

She looked at him and paused to think.

Yonder stood the future man,

Youthful, nice with style and élan,

Father and priest by the altar stood,

Patiently, for they knew she’s good …

He quietly waited as he looked at her,

He wasn’t scared for he didn’t plan to err,

He looked at all, he met each stare,

He said I’m here with only a prayer.

Her dimples flashed, she smiled at him,

She left them all and came to him,

Then, suddenly the time stood still,

As the light of God their hearts did fill,

She held his hand, as He made a sign,

He joined them with His love divine,

His blessings entered their heart and soul,

Their lips did meet and they were whole …

The time unfroze as He waved His wand,

All they saw was that she shook his hand,

He held her hand and walked to the pew,

He gave her away, as is a father’s due …

The star and sun, He made them meet,

And forever made their memories sweet,

His eyes now shone with glorious light,

Though she was not his bride tonight!
